McMurray Lab visits Talawanda Elementary Schools

Updated: Mar 28, 2019

As part of our ongoing outreach to K-12 students, the McMurray Lab recently visited Bogan, Marshall, and Kramer elementary schools to discuss neuroscience with 4th graders in the ETC program (gifted). While there, we talked about how your body uses electricity to move information, we learned how fast that process is, made neurons out of pipe cleaners, and had a relay race to test our knowledge of neuron anatomy. Students in these classes will be visiting Miami over our Spring Break to learn more about their brains using resources at Miami (microscopes, etc). Special thanks to Shannon Thompson, Elizabeth Sneddon, and Kathryn Nadkarni for their assistance with the program, and to Joe Heilman and Heidi Sebald for welcoming us into their classrooms.
